Press Snooze
My alarm clock it rings everyday
Before that rooster crows
I wish that I could just press snooze
But I know I’ve got to go
Who Decides What is Moral?
One thing I’ve noticed while working with animals on the farm is animals don’t live by a moral code. Living things in the wild live by the laws of nature. Survival of the fittest. There is no moral…
What Would You Do with All the Power in the World?
Why would a good and all-powerful God create a world capable of so much evil and injustice?
The Headache Song
The first time that we met
I knew that we belonged together
You were the one for me
Our love would last forever
On Down the Line
I got nothing in my pockets
I got nothing left to lose
I wish I had a dime
For every mile that’s on these shoes
Deeper In the Hole
A better life I’m trying to find
Everyday I lay it on the line
No matter how hard I might try
I can’t get out of this hole
Peeing Off the Porch
Spend all day out in the sun
Come home when the work gets done
Suppertime we gather round
Give thanks to God then chow down
Here I Stand
This ole world is changing everyday
Everybody trying to find the easy way
We know we shouldn’t, yet we still go along
Where Were You Jesus?
Life has no shortages of pain and suffering. Some of it is brought on by ourselves. Some of it brought on by others. Some of it we don’t know why. Maybe brought on by God. Even if not brought on by God, why would a good God allow it?
How to Please a Perfect Father
Matthew 3:16 – As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Snow White Legs and Sunburnt Shoulders
A farming life ain’t an easy life.
I tell you that right now.
I reckon some manage to do pretty good,
But to be honest it’s hard to see how.
A Mother’s Love Can Turn Water into Wine
“When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, ‘They have no more wine.’” John 2:3
What was his mother expecting him to do about it? What could Jesus do about it?
Freely Give
Love is a choice. If love is forced, is it really love? Giving is a choice. If giving is forced, is it really giving? Did Jesus ever take from someone and give it to someone else? Did he take from the rich young man and redistribute to those with less? Did Jesus command the system to take from the rich young man and redistribute? No. He told the young man to give. He wanted the young man to choose to give himself. Whether he did or not was up to the young man.
Wrestling with God
“Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.” Genesis 32:28
Jacob struggled with God. I think we all do at some point.
Life is a struggle. The struggles in life force us to struggle with God.
The Harvest is Plentiful
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”
Matthew 9:37
Jesus often used real life examples to make eternal points.
Society is becoming more and more disconnected with real life.
The World Is Crazy. But Here in the Real World...
We all know how crazy the world is.
No need to recap or highlight the craziness throughout the world in the past year.
Unfortunately, the world seems to be moving towards more craziness.
If we look at our TV screens, our computer screens, or our phone screens, we see craziness amplified.
But what happens when we turn off our screens and open our eyes?
Heart of a Farmer
We usually post pictures of happy kids and the beauties of life on the farm. This isn’t one of those. But it is a very real picture of life on the farm.
This picture is over a year old. I’ve had a hard time putting words to it. You might wonder why anyone would even want to put words to it. I’ve wondered that myself.
New Creation
“The old has gone. The new is here!”
2 Corinthians 5:17
Human beings, compared to other living things, have the unique ability to remember and learn from the past.
Time tells all. We can see how our decisions and the decisions of others have impacted where we are today. For better or worse.
A Terribly Great Year
A year of sickness.
Like many families, our family has struggled with sickness.
No sickness is pleasant at the time, yet we are thankful for the sickness in our family. It has given us a greater appreciation for health.
